My Growing Girl

Hello!

Okay, so here I am, at 11:30 at night, deciding that I am going to dust off my very rusty writing skills. I have always love journalling, fiction writing and I'm going to give blogging a shot to see where it takes me. Tried before but, then again, I didn't have Aby to write about.

Well may as wells start of with some introductions so that we know who we are dealing with. There is me, Mommy Kayte, of course, don't think there is much there to explain. For my own sense of discretion, I live in southEastern Ontario with my boyfriend Charles and my baby girl of nearly 7 whole months, Abygael Rose. We live, what I would think anyways, a very uneventful life-I chase baby one moment, dog the next and then back to my baby.

Life in the past 6 and a half month has been interesting and I have learned quite a few life lessons along the way. A child does that to you, whether you want to learn those lessons or not. I have learned patience, though that lesson is a long way from being completed. I have learned that not everything can be planned, that there are days where you just have to go with the flow and contend with everything from there. I have learned that showers for Mommy will sometimes be a couple days apart but baths for Aby will always be right on schedule. And what seems so easy-such as purchasing a dog that I have always wanted-isn't always as easy as it seemed previously.

Just today, I decided that we have settled into as much of a comfortable life as we are going to. Taking care of the dog wasn't that hard to adjust to, so why not throw a wedding into the mix? Can't be that hard right? Ahhh, no, it won't, so let's make the date for next year in the summer. Oh yeah, and how about that baptism that my Mom has been wanting....ah that's perfect! What more could a woman want, right?

I'm going to regret my decision to push for the wedding, not because of the 'getting married part' but trying to balance everything having to do with planning that big shin-dig, but having to balance that with my new life as a first-time Mommy. Aby comes first but now I want to have this big day- too much to chew? We'll see...we'll see.

As for Aby herself, she is such an amazing baby. I look at her and sometimes want to cry with pride-and this is from me, a woman who has always felt that children were foreign objects. Everyday I spend with her, the more I realize that she isn't a mistake and even the unplanned part seems to be an overstatement. Yes, there was no planning behind her but I was ready to be a Mom-I will never say I regret her, ever, in my life.

She has learned to crawl and a mobile baby is such a thing to get used to! One minute she is in one spot then off she goes, across the living room in a heart beat. I have to watch her like a hawk, making sure some random object doesn't find it's way into her mouth or that she isn't getting into something that will hurt her. It can be hard but then she smiles-it's worth it, worth every last bit of the stress and hard work.

So that is all for now--don't want to make this first entry the longest entry! Until the next one....
